Monday's Poems

UNFAIR
By: Shel Silverstein

They don't allow pets in this apartment.
That's not decent, that's not fair.
They don't allow pets in this apartment.
They don't listen, they don't care.
I told them he's quiet and never does bark,
I told them he'd do all his stuff in the park,
I told them he's cuddly and friendly, and yet-
They won't allow pets.

Shel Silverstein's poems is the first poetry I read. I was 12 years old.

I feel for the narrator who's missing out on having a pet!

I can relate to that, I can't have a pet and I love animals.

My daughter loved Shel Silverstein books when she was growing up, and we loved reading them together. A great poem to start the week.

Well, I have never read him but I like his thought process here. I would never live any where that did not allow pets. :)

I've gotta say that this protest would be something I'd wear on a t-shirt! Unfair indeed!

Shel Silverstein wasn't around when I was growing up. We had R.L. Stevenson, Frost, and the like.

Thanks for posting this; I don't own one of his books yet :)

My kids love Uncle Shelby!
We have his books and read them often.

Our cat has disappeared... I'm sad about that.
